Teams Notification Sound Not Working – Fix
Missing important chats because Teams is silent? This is usually a "Focus Assist" conflict in Windows 11. Againly fixes this automatically by whitelisting Teams in your system-wide notification settings.
Why this happens
- Focus Assist / Do Not Disturb: Windows has automatically entered "Gaming" or "Work" mode and silenced all app alerts.
- In-App Secondary Ringer: Teams has its own ringer settings that are separate from your main chat alerts.
- Notification Queue Freeze: The Windows Action Center has become unresponsive, preventing new sounds from firing.
Fix it manually
- Check System DND: Click the date/time in your taskbar and ensure "Do not disturb" is turned OFF.
- Teams Settings: Teams > Settings > Notifications > ensure "Appearance and sound" is toggled ON.
- Windows App Settings: Settings > System > Notifications > find Teams and ensure "Play a sound when a notification arrives" is checked.
